GET ON BOARD THE PEANUT BUTTER EXPRESS
It is an unfortunate reality that every 1 in 6 of Rhode Island’s children will go to bed hungry each night. However, you can change that simply with the donation of a jar of peanut butter. The Rhode Island Interscholastic League challenges you to work with your friends, your teams, your schools, and the state as a whole to take part in the Peanut Butter Express.
What is the Peanut Butter Express you ask? It is a statewide community service campaign created by the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Student Advisory Board. The purpose of this campaign is to collect jars of peanut butter that can be given to local food pantries so that we can eradicate any child’s feeling of hunger.
Hunger is a devastating reality to many children in Rhode Island, and with one jar of peanut butter you can do something to help change that! We ask your school to please participate so that together, WE CAN MAKE DIFFERENCE!"

How To Get Started At Your School!
Each school should designate one contact person to organize collection and arrange for delivery to the RIIL office on or before, April 11 by 2 p.m. Weight of peanut butter should be logged on school’s RECORDING SHEET and submitted with delivery.
The school that collects and donates the most peanut butter in weight will receive a banner as the 2016-17 Peanut Butter Express Champion and the satisfaction of knowing that its students made the biggest difference in the fight against hunger.

The R.I. Interscholastic League paid a visit to Mount St. Charles Academy on Friday morning to present the school with its banner as this year’s winner of the Peanut Butter Express Challenge.
The school collected 570 jars for the initiative, conducted by the RIIL Student Advisory Board. That brought the total amount collected in the second annual campaign to nearly 16,800 ounces. The peanut butter was donated earlier this month to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, which serves 60,000 people - many of them children - each month.
